Guinea pigs are great pets to have but don’t you wish you could just dress them up? Well, now you can. Dressing your guinea pigs in clothing has become a very popular, believe it or not. Many people dress these cute little pets up on holidays, birthdays and just whenever they would like!
There are tons of different clothes and costumes that you can choose for your little guy to wear. For female guinea pig clothes there are from bride costumes, to a bunny, and even princess costumes. For males there are superman costumes and Scottish kilts and hats. Some other options are cowboy, hamburger, bumblebee, elf and many, many more.
If you are looking for a specific costume chances are that it is already made. There are also vendors that will custom design guinea pig clothes for you if that is what you would like. These vendors sometimes also have a measuring chart on how to measure your guinea pig’s size. Most of the costumes come in a one-fits- all size but if you have a really small or large pet then be sure to look for the correct sizing. Pet stores are also catching on. There are many pet stores that not only have clothes for dogs and cats, but also for guinea pigs.
Although dressing your guinea pig up can be really fun, just make sure you do not leave your pet in the costume for long periods of time because these little guys can get severely overheated all dressed up. Especially if you live in a more humid and hot climate. Also be sure that the clothing that you get for your pet fits him or her. Some costumes and/or hats may be too tight and could cause serious damage if left on for too long. Your guinea pig can bite and eat the clothing so always watch them when you dress them up.
Guinea pigs are very mild little pets are very easily tamed. Guinea pigs are a great size for a small child or anyone for that matter. They do not take up a lot of space and they are really easy to take care of. These pets also rarely bite, or scratch if they were raised around humans at birth and this makes it really easy to put them in clothes because they really do not fight it. Although these creatures are sweet when tame, they can be aggressive if approached in the wild or if they have not been around people enough.
Keep in mind to get a young guinea pig that has been hand raised by humans. Purchasing a young hand raised baby will ensure that he or she will be a much better pet than a wild one will be. These young guineas are already used to humans and they are less likely to become mean or aggressive. Before you decide to dress your guinea pig up, make sure that he or she is completely tame. Otherwise you may end up scaring your pet and he or she will not want to be held or touched often as well as let you dress him or her up.
Overall, guinea pig clothes are safe, fun and they will not harm your pet if you keep a careful watch on them and take the clothing off often. Keep in mind that your guinea pig will need to be very tame and non-aggressive if you want to dress him or her up in clothes.
